Finescrollsaw218 - Palace candelabra |
|
This is one of the most spectacular designs of the old Italian school of fretwork that I have ever come across, a lavishly ornamented four arms candelabra for five candles, exaggerated, overdone, decadent and truly fantastic. Very large and magnificent, this candelabra looks perfect for even a 19th century palace. The ornamentation includes dolphins, cherubs playing trumpets in the arms and eight Pegasus (winged horses) in the base. Note that the base also includes several curved pieces of wood, adding beauty and visual appeal to the design. These curved pieces are to be made with thin wood, and are glued in place with the help of support pieces carefully designed to make the mounting quite easy. This pattern is based in an old Italian design from which we have kept the ornaments and we have reconstructed all the pieces and mounting scheme. |
This candelabra has been designed to use 3/16 and 1/32 inches wood or 5 and 0.8 mm wood. By scaling the pattern appropriately any other wood thickness in proportions 6 to 1 can also be used. These are the dimensions of the candelabra depending on the wood thickness you use:
