scroll saw model of a 1906 car

This is a charming scroll saw model of an antique car. It was published in 1906 by Hobbies magazine as a Special fretwork design. The model has been entirely redrawn in the computer to correct the inaccuracies of the original hand-drawn design. Thus, the version we present here is a flawless project that any scroller can enjoy confidently knowing that all the pieces will fit accurately.

Large pieces (the floor and one of the side pieces) are presented splitted in two pieces. Depending on the scale you apply to the pattern and the size of your scroll saw you may prefer to put together some of these pieces and cut them as a single piece, to strengthen the project. When possible the cutting lines are hidden behind other pieces.

The pattern has been designed to use 3/16 inches (main thickness) and 3/8 inches wood. By scaling the pattern appropriately any other wood thickness can also be used. These are the dimensions of the car depending on the wood thickness you use:

Length Height Width
1/8 inches (main thickness) and 1/4 inches wood 17.3 inches 7.7 inches 7.4 inches
3/16 inches (main thickness) and 3/8 inches wood 26 inches 11.5 inches 11.1 inches
1/4 inches (main thickness) and 1/2 inches wood 34.6 inches 15.4 inches 14.8 inches
3 mm (main thickness) and 6 mm wood 41.5 cm 18.5 cm 17.8 cm
4 mm (main thickness) and 8 mm wood 55.3 cm 24.7 cm 23.7 cm
5 mm (main thickness) and 10 mm wood 69.1 cm 30.8 cm 29.7 cm
6 mm (main thickness) and 12 mm wood 83 cm 37 cm 35.6 cm
