253 - Ronald Reagan

This scroll saw pattern is for a panel portraying former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, depicted with a calm, confident demeanor and a slight smile that conveys warmth and approachability. The portrait is crafted by assembling individually cut wooden pieces onto a background panel. Ideally, the background should be a light wood tone, while the layered pieces are cut from a darker wood, as illustrated in the image below. This approach contrasts with traditional scroll saw portrait methods, which typically involve cutting dark portions out of a single board to form the image. This method allows for enhanced creativity and depth, giving the portrait a more layered and visually engaging effect.

The pattern divides the entire image into two distinct main sections that must be cut separately and then glued onto a back panel measuring 39.1 x 53.5 cm (15.4 x 21.1 inches).

To cut the pattern at its standard printed size, a scroll saw with an 18-inch (45 cm) throat is required. You may scale the pattern down, but keep in mind that small details will become more challenging to cut as the size decreases. Conversely, scaling up the pattern is also possible, though it will be limited by the cutting capacity of your scroll saw. Once assembled, framing the model will offer a more refined and elegant presentation.
